Abdominoplasty Abdominoplasty,(or abdominal modeling surgery ) known more commonly as a "tummy tuck," is a surgical procedure to remove excess skin and fat from the middle and lower abdomen and to tighten the muscles of the abdominal wall at the same time, distended due to lack of exersice, or because of the effects produced upon the abdominal tissues by pregnancy. With this procedure it is also possible to correct congenital or acquired defects on the abdominal wall such as herniae, eventrations, and scars from previous surgeries. The procedure can dramatically reduce the appearance of a protruding abdomen. But bear in mind, it does produce a permanent scar, which, depending on the extent of the original problem and the surgery required to correct it,will be shorter or larger and can extend from hip to hip, like the scar of an horizontal cesarea but larger. This sacar will look like a thin white line with time. |
