ARG Plastic Surgery Code of Ethics

Section 1: The provisions set forth in this Code of Ethics are mandatory for every member of our team of professional physicians, management and, when applicable, the entire staff of ARG Plastic Surgery.

Section 2: Our professional physicians should care for our patients’ health without any discrimination, respecting life and human rights. It is their essential duty to promote the health, moral and physical integrity of our patients. Our physicians, as members of our health team should carry out the necessary actions to make our patients feel in a healthy environment; in order to do so they shall base their actions on their recognized professional training and ethical principles and rules set forth in this Code.

Section 3: Our team of physicians is entitled to and must follow the principles of this “decalogue of fundamental values”: 1. To respect the life, dignity and freedom of each of our patients and never seek for an objective different from benefiting his physical, mental and social health. 2. To provide our patients with any and all available knowledge in order to procure better results. 3. To fail to promote any kind of discrimination (based on nationality, age, socioeconomic level, race, gender, religion, ideology, etc.), 4. To respect the right of the patients to keep secret any information regarding them and be a true guardian, along with the rest of the health team, of any and all secrets told, and any secret that cannot be revealed unless the patients’s express authorization. 5. To be informed in order to provide the highest level of competence in their specific field. 6. To be truthful in their professional work at all times. 7. To appreciate the team effort made with both colleagues and other professionals, in their work at the service of our patients’ health.

  On Our Team Of Professional Physicians:

Section 4: Our physicians shall be responsible for the advices they may give and the acts they may perform.

Section 5: The members of Our Team must be fully aware that they should, at all times, take decisions based on two components: the scientific and ethical one, which are basic elements of their nature as human beings.

Section 6: The members of our Health Team must limit their tasks and responsibilities to their corresponding degrees and authorizing certificates. The Service provided to our patients must be assessed by a general plan based on the main scientific principles.

Section 7: Our Team of Physicians shall not delegate to non-authorized staff the faculty, functions or responsibilities proper of their profession or activity.

Section 8: Our team of professional physicians shall be aware of all scientific and technological advances on cosmetic surgery and aesthetic medicine in order to provide our patients with state-of-the-art procedures.

Section 9: The patients’s religious beliefs, not opposing medical practice, shall be respected unless the religious conception entailed an attack against the patient’s health that doctors are bound to protect. In that event, the physician shall inform the patient and refuse to continue treating him/her, should the patient stand by his/her position.

Section 10: The members of Our Health Team shall only use or prescribe guaranteed and proven quality products of any nature.

Section 11: Being the prescription of medicine a part of the consultation, the members of Our Health Team shall uphold the freedom of prescription given that as a “medical act” they have ethical and legal responsibility for the results of such activity.  

Section 12: The members of Our Health Team shall be involved in our Quality Politics, defending the general aims and being part of the planning processes and strategies to achieve it, the organization and implementation of programs, and controlling the results in order to have a constant improvement.

  On The Rights Of Our Patients

Section 13: Our patients have the right to be respected and be given the best possible service by the members of Our Health Team in order to have the best possible psychophysical and socio-cultural well-being.

Section 14: The patient has the right to be provided with sufficient information in order to grant his/her consent to having understood the diagnosis, prognosis, therapy and primary and secondary preventive cares, corresponding to his/her state of health. The patient, relative or representative shall sign a free and “Informed Consent” whenever necessary, at the physician’s discretion.

Section 15: The patient has the right to his/her state of health be kept secret from third parties. Secrets shall not be revealed either verbally or through the spreading of the patient’s medical record.

Section 16: All our patients have the right to not to be stigmatized or despised because of their physical or psychical conditions.

Section 17: The doctor shall respect the freedom of the patient of choosing whether to be treated by the physician.

  On The Patient-Physician Relationship:

Section 18: The members of Our Health Team shall establish a relationship with their patients involving loyalty, dignity, respect, understanding and tolerance, carrying out the clinical examination and diagnosis and therapy indications with the strictest moral consideration of human dignity, without any kind of discrimination whatsoever.

Section 19: The members of Our Health Team shall dedicate to the patients the necessary time to evaluate their requirements, examine them, indicate the diagnosis stages and explain them whatever necessary.

Section 20:  Out of the rules that govern the Patient-Physician relationship, the following should be given priority: paying respect to professional secret, confidentiality and free and informed consent granted personally or by someone responsible, when necessary.

  On The Professional Secret:

Section 21: In the Health field, by professional secret shall be understood everything that is not ethical or unlawful to reveal, without a just cause.

Section 22: The professional secret is an ethical obligation that derives from the mere essence of the medical profession and it is related to paying respect to the freedom of the patient. The public interest, the safety and security of the patients, the honor of the families, the respect of the professional and the dignity of the Medicine demand secrecy.

Section 23: The importance of the above mentioned is such that constitutes an obligation, breach of which, without just cause, is defined as a crime according to the Penal Code of the Argentine Republic. It is not necessary to publish the secret to be considered as revealed; telling the secret to an isolated person shall be regarded as a crime.

Section 24: Our Health Team has the right and duty to keep secret everything that the patient may have said, seen, inferred and any and all documents drawn up in the practice of the profession. Personnel must be discreet, nothing can be directly or indirectly revealed.

  On Our Duties As A Health Organization:

Section 25: Our main aim as a health organization is to succeed in making our staff of professional physicians and non-physicians work together in harmony to provide our patients with top-quality service, seeking the well-being of the patient.

Section 26: Any and all ARG Plastic Surgery’s staff and, especially, the members of the Health Team have committed to provide Quality Management in our services, based on the fundamental principle stated by the WHO on the right of every human being to obtain “the highest possible level of health”, principle that must be part of the law of every country as a legal and ethical responsibility of the State and health organizations.

Section 27: We undertake to continue improving our Quality Guarantee System, by means of a set of planned and systematized actions required for patients to trust that our services shall be up to quality standards. These set of activities are aimed at ensuring that the quality obtained meets the patient’s needs.

Section 28: As a health organization we undertake providing highly effective and efficient services, and applying updated knowledge with proper technology.

Section 29: We undertake providing our staff of physicians and non-doctors with the best possible working conditions in order to render our services properly.

Section 30: We institute this Code of Ethics as a guiding principle of our actions as a health organization. We shall abide by it as well as any and all of our professional physicians, non-doctors and remaining personnel of ARG Plastic Surgery
