Thigh lift

If physical exercise and dieting have not met your goals in terms of a body with firmer, younger-looking thighs, thigh lift surgery is an ideal one for you. This procedure models the thighs, reducing the excess of skin, often hanging and in some cases of fatty tissue, resulting in smoother skin and a better contour of the thighs.

The best candidates

The best candidates for a thigh lift surgery are: people whose weight remains relatively stable, with excess soft tissues along the inner region of the thighs, healthy people (no medical history that contraindicate a surgery). Non-smokers (the potential negative effect of smoking on the healing is known). People with realistic goals regarding what this surgery can do for them. People who lead a healthy way of life, with adequate nutrition and physical exercise.

Planning your surgery

In the initial consultation we will evaluate your state of health and we will explain the most appropriate surgical techniques for your particular case, based on the firmness of your skin and the conditions of your body. Tell us what your expectations are. We will be equally frank with you. indicating the alternatives and the advantages, risks and limitations of the possible treatments. In the same way answer the questions we ask about your habits such as smoking, or the intake of medication, vitamins, and other drugs. We will explain the type of anesthesia that we usually use, the clinic where we perform the intervention, and the costs of it.

Getting ready for your surgery

We will give you specific instructions on how to prepare for surgery, including certain suggestions about what to eat and drink, about smoking, what vitamins or medications to take or avoid. Follow these instructions carefully, which will help your surgery to go unhindered and you will also have a more comfortable postoperative period. When making preparations, be sure to arrange for someone to accompany you home after surgery and help you for a few days, if necessary.

Where will your surgery be done?

The surgery is performed in the clinic, which has all the necessary medical equipment and the greatest comfort for you. You should arrive about 30 minutes before the scheduled time, to make the entry procedures, make a complete medical history, and take preoperative photographs. In your room you can change clothes. After the surgery, he will stay in the clinic for two to four hours, until we make sure everything is in order and he can return to his home, where he will continue to rest.

Types of anesthesia

Thigh lift surgery can be performed under local or general anesthesia. We prefer local anesthesia, accompanied by mild sedation, as it has many advantages with respect to general anesthesia, such as less bleeding, good cooperation on your part, rapid recovery and much less risk than general anesthesia. With this local anesthesia, you will be slightly sedated, numbing your thighs, which will make you feel no pain; You will be awake during surgery, however, you will be relaxed and insensitive to pain.

Surgery

Thigh lift surgery takes approximately 2 hours. The method of traction of the skin of the leg depends on its anatomy, on the areas to be treated and on the degree of correction sought. In the most common technique, the incision is made on the inner side of the thigh hidden in the inguinal fold (sometimes it is necessary to reach almost the gluteal fold). Through incision we perform a liposuction to facilitate the traction of the skin and remove excess skin. Then the incisions are sutured carefully.

After surgery

She will feel tired and upset some days after the intervention, she will have to rest in bed for a day or two, without stressing the sutures. You can make a normal life without excessive tensions after a week. We will prescribe analgesic medication to avoid possible discomfort that may affect it, as well as antibiotics for a week. The strange sensations in the skin and the most important swelling will diminish in more or less three weeks. The sutures will be removed in approximately two weeks. But the leg will take a few more weeks to recover its completely normal appearance. You must wear a compression garment for approximately 4 weeks.

Getting back to normal

Must be able to return to work in about fifteen days depending on the level of activity required by it. You can start physical exercise at 4 weeks. Your legs will probably be more sensitive to direct stimulation in two or three weeks but will progressively return to normal. The scars will be hardened and pink for at least six weeks. Although this hardening can last a few months. Afterwards, they will progressively diminish until they become very little evident.

Your new look

The results of thigh lift surgery are visible almost immediately. However, it will take a few months to see the final result. The result of this surgery is very durable, as long as you maintain a stable weight and maintain an exercise routine.
